Anthony William – The Medical Medium Writes on the Benefits of Spirulina

The Healing Benefits of Spirulina  Explained Spirulina is often deemed the most nutritionally complete of all foods and has countless uses as a supplement for maintaining good health and preventing diseases. This is because it contains a plentiful supply of many important nutrients and antioxidants, including protein, complex carbohydrates, iron, and vitamins A and K, as well as B complex. It’s also rich in chlorophyll, fatty and nucleic acids, and lipids. Spirulina is rich in gamma-linolenic acid, or GLA, a compound found in breast milk that helps develop healthier babies. Best Source of Beta-Carotene Spirulina provides a profusion of carotenoids such as best-carotene and yellow xanthophylls. In fact, spirulina is the richest beta-carotene food. The beta-carotene found in spirulina is ten times more concentrated than carrots. Iron-Rich Iron is essential for building a strong internal system, yet it is one of the most common mineral deficiencies (zinc is the most common). Spirulina is rich in iron, magnesium and trace minerals and is easier to absorb than iron supplements. Ten grams of spirulina can supply up to 70% of the minimum daily requirements for iron. Protein Packed About 60% of spirulina’s dry weight is protein, which in the form it comes in within spirulina, is essential for growth and cell regeneration. It’s a good replacement for fatty meat and dairy products. Builder of Beneficial Flora Spirulina suppresses bad bacteria like E. coli and stimulates beneficial flora like lactobacillus and bifidobactria in the digestive tract to promote healthy digestion and proper bowel function. Healthy flora is one of the foundations of good health. It increases the body’s ability to absorb...

Choose Your Poison I love to have a drink and should I drink too much my mood would be dependent on what I drink too much of or does it? My favourite tipple is whisky and coke. I also love red wine and may have a glass now and then at home. I am not however an everyday drinker. Sure, during a night out, I may have one too many but I am a happy drunk and normally the only side effect to my drunkenness are the munchies and thus I feel the need to eat. This entails stodgy unhealthy foods. Friends find me funny once I’ve had one too many, and on many occasions, I have raided their kitchen cupboards looking for food. In addition to the munchies, I become very vocal and the filter between my brain and my mouth disappears. So, if you want to know my deepest darkest secrets and want to know what I really think about you, get me drunk!!!! I believed my mood was determined based on the different alcohol beverages I would drink. I use to be a gin drinker; I loved my gin and tonic, unfortunately after one too many I became an unhappy drunk. I would be so miserable and on occasion cry. Does our genetic makeup determine how different alcohols affect us or is it due to the ingredients in specific alcohol beverages, or is it simply a state of mind? If I drink because I’m feeling down and feeling miserable does alcohol enhance those feelings of doom and gloom? A number of studies, have been carried...

Cauliflower Sushi with Thai Chili Sauce This dish can be made with either raw or cooked cauliflower rice. While it may seem intimidating to think of making your own sushi rolls, it’s surprisingly easy. They don’t have to look perfect in order to taste great! The options for filling your sushi rolls are endless. Try incorporating fresh herbs like mint, basil, and cilantro for a fresh twist, or branch out into other liver-healing vegetables like radishes, asparagus, or sprouts. You can even incorporate cooked vegetables like sweet potatoes or any variety of squash.   Cauliflower: A nutrient rich vegetable that is excellent for supporting a strong immune system and optimum health. Cauliflower is incredibly high in vitamin C, K, and B-complex and minerals such as boron, calcium, molybdenum, and tryptophan. It is also a good source of high quality protein that is easily assimilated into the body. Cauliflower contains powerful anti-cancer compounds such as indole-3-carbinol and sulforaphane which are particularly beneficial for helping to prevent breast, cervical, ovarian, colon, stomach, and prostate cancers.   Cucumbers: Allies to the liver due to their ability to hydrate it. Your liver’s always in need of living water that’s filled with minerals and other nutrients, because your liver keeps your blood hydrated. It relies on sources such as cucumber for that living water. This minimizes dirty blood syndrome by helping reduce fats and toxins inside of dirty blood. Phytochemical compounds in cucumbers act as anti-inflammatories to the small intestines and colon. Cucumbers have a gentle blood-thinning ability, too, allowing for detox to occur naturally, without obstruction. Cauliflower Sushi Ingredients: ½ cauliflower 6...

Living in the Eternal Now of God – Charity Virkler Kayembe

Living in the Eternal Now of God – Charity Virkler Kayembe

God is the great I AM. He is the Alpha and Omega, putting Himself squarely and decidedly outside of time. He is timeless, and we’re supposed to be just like Him. Even Einstein said, “The distinction between past, present and future is only a stubbornly persistent illusion.” Time? God is outside of it. I knew that every other thing about God we should aspire to live into – His holiness, His strength, His love. I understood how all that can work in our natural world, but timelessness? Didn’t He create this world with time, and then place us inside of it? God is eternal, but didn’t He make it so that we don’t have everlasting life on this earth, in this world? God created time because it says in Genesis there was evening and morning. There are lights in the heavens to separate the day from the night, that are signs for seasons and days and years (Gen. 1:13,14). That’s pretty clear that He thought it up, and created time, and then put us where it is. Which is why, of all the quantum revelations I wanted to experience, the one thing I had been most challenged with was the whole dimension of time. Its apparent fluidity and how could timelessness ever apply to me? Since God created time, I don’t really see how, or that I even should, try to live outside of it. Especially, because I was extraordinarily aware of time, and how little I always used to feel I had of it. I lived in a constant state of rush, and thinking about what’s next...
The Mystery Explained by Anthony William The Medical Medium:

The Mystery Explained by Anthony William The Medical Medium:

The True Cause of Weight Gain Millions of Americans are struggling with weight gain and yet what’s really behind this pervasive issue is still unknown in conventional medical and alternative health communities. Almost exclusively, you’ll hear weight gain blamed on slow metabolism, overeating, too many carbohydrates, or a lack of exercise. These are common theories but they’re just that: theories. They aren’t the real reason there’s an epidemic of mystery weight gain across the globe. Despite the theories and promises of trendy fad diets everywhere you look, it’s the liver that holds the answers to your questions about mystery weight gain. It is not as straightforward as burning more calories than we consume. Many times, people are following a trendy diet and exercising regularly and are still gaining weight. It’s critical to have great compassion for those who are struggling with their weight and to understand what’s really going on so we can help end the shame and judgement many overweight people experience. Mystery: The True Cause of Weight Gain If you’re gaining weight, it means your liver is sluggish. I have a whole chapter on mystery weight gain and another chapter on sluggish liver in Liver Rescue: Answers to Eczema, Psoriasis, Diabetes, Strep, Acne, Gout, Bloating, Gallstones, Adrenal Stress, Fatigue, Fatty Liver, Weight Issues, SIBO & Autoimmune Disease. While two other factors, the thyroid and the adrenals, can often be involved, weight gain is really about what your liver is up against. When someone can eat all the junk food she or he wants and not gain an ounce, it’s because they have a liver that hasn’t...

Ladies, think about your pelvic floor Since your first midwife appointment you have heard the words pelvic floor exercise. You’ve been told to do them daily and for life. Now, I’ll take a guess and assume that hasn’t happened.. Maybe you fit in a few squeezes when stopped at a red light? Now, I don’t want to hark on about the importance of pelvic floor exercises, but they ARE IMPORTANT. Seriously. And it’s never too late to start them. Your pelvic floor is a muscle just like any other in your body, just as you may take up Zumba at 50 to build strength and lose weight you too can start working out that pelvic floor at 50. But please I encourage you to start as early as possible So, lets give an exercise a go. We are going to work with our breath for maximum effect. Sitting comfortably, sit up tall, relax your shoulders. As you inhale begin to squeeze your pelvic floor, start from the back working up to the front and lift the muscle. Exhale release slowly, lowering first. Repeat inhale tighten the muscle lifting up, exhale slowly release. Inhale a little longer this time tighten, lifting the muscle, HOLD 1 – 2 – 3, release exhaling slowly. Repeat, inhale tightening lifting the muscle , HOLD 1 – 2 – 3 – 4, release exhaling fully. Again, inhale, squeeze and lift, HOLD 1 – 2 – 3 – 4 – 5 and release fully. Repeat the above 3 more times. Tomorrow repeat it 4 times, and the next day 5. Well done! I have other fun...
Overcoming Sadness – By Robbie Holz

Overcoming Sadness – By Robbie Holz

Sadness Can Lead to Depression Everyone feels sadness at some point in their lives. It’s unavoidable. Sadness is a natural response to the loss of someone or something that you value. Sadness tends to hang on longer than most emotions because you usually spend more time thinking your sad thoughts. You replay them over and over again in your mind. But continually contemplating your gloomy thoughts can develop into depression. That’s why it’s important to deal with sadness when it comes up. Here are several ways to overcome sadness. It’s Okay to Feel Sad It’s important to allow yourself to feel sad. You don’t want to deny or suppress those emotions. Acknowledge your feelings of sadness and gain more awareness of what triggers them. Try to be extra gentle, kind and patient with yourself right now rather than judging yourself for having certain emotions. Accept your sadness for what it is. Don’t resist it but remind yourself that these feelings will eventually pass. Acceptance will help you manage your sadness better. Exercise Elevates Your Mood One of the most effective ways to shift out of sadness is physical movement. Same thing for depression. Research has shown that exercise lifts your mood. Exercise releases endorphins and other chemicals which help you feel better. Whether it’s a walk around your neighbourhood, cleaning the kitchen floor or pulling weeds, just start moving. Aim for some type of physical exercise at least 20 minutes five days a week. Nature Can Provide a Natural Boost Getting outside in nature can give you a big emotional boost. You may not feel like walking through...

Is it safe? I love and hate Sundays; Sunday’s for me is the lazy day. The day to listen to music or simply flicking through channels. So, why do I hate Sunday’s, simple, tomorrow is Monday. My son decided to spend the morning with his grandmother and then meet a friend and go to the gym. It was a day of peace and tranquility. At approximately 5.p.m the phone rang and I knew it would be my son telling me he was leaving the gym and will be home soon. This was one of the rules; I always needed to know where he was at all times and he followed these rules religiously. As I picked up the phone and heard his voice my heart sank. He told me that he and is friend had been attacked by some teenage boys after leaving the gym and they had taken refuge in Papa Johns and had subsequently telephoned the police. I failed to process what had happened and made him repeat the story twice before I said ‘I’ll be there as quickly as I can, are you hurt?’ He replied ‘no’, but his friend had been punched in the face, which broke his glasses and in turn left a small cut by the side of his left eye. He proceeded to tell me that I need not pick him up; he would be fine getting home. 35 hours in labour and this child thought he was inconveniencing me!!! Seriously, people I do not run, Rani and running are never mentioned in the same sentence but I ran all the way...
